GCU Field Experiance Learning Agreement

Welcome to the section of my E-Portfolio. This page represents my growth as a Bachelor of Social Work student and highlights how I intentionally connected classroom learning with hands-on field experience. The Learning Agreement served as a guide for setting goals, developing professional skills, and strengthening my understanding of social work values and ethics. It reflects my commitment to learning, self-reflection, and continuous improvement as I prepared for professional practice. Through this process, I gained meaningful insight into my strengths, areas for growth, and evolving identity as a future social worker.

This Learning Agreement was  structured to help guide me throughout my BSW field education experience to connect classroom learning with real-world social work practice. Developed collaboratively by my field instructor and me, the agreement outlines specific learning goals, activities, and outcomes aligned with the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) core competencies. It serves as both a roadmap and an accountability tool, ensuring that my field experience supports my professional growth while meeting academic expectations.

Throughout my field experience courses, the Learning Agreement helped me intentionally apply social work values, ethics, and skills across micro, mezzo, and macro levels of practice. By clearly defining competencies such as ethical decision-making, engaging diversity, advancing social justice, policy practice, and evaluation, the agreement provided consistent structure and direction. Regular reflection and evaluation allowed me to track my progress, identify strengths, and address areas for continued development.

The agreement also strengthened communication between my field instructor, field liaison, and me by setting shared expectations and measurable goals. This collaborative process encouraged ongoing feedback, critical reflection, and professional self-awareness. Overall, the Learning Agreement played a vital role in shaping my field experience by transforming hands-on practice into purposeful learning, reinforcing my readiness for professional social work practice, and supporting my development as a competent, ethical, and reflective social work practitioner.
