My research project on hygiene services within the homeless and low-income communities
My research project focuses on the role of hygiene services within the homeless community and how access to these services impacts health, dignity, and overall stability. Hygiene resources such as showers, restrooms, and laundry are often overlooked in homelessness interventions, yet they play a critical role in preventing illness, supporting mental well-being, and reducing social stigma. This project examines barriers to accessing hygiene services, the effectiveness of mobile hygiene programs, and the lived experiences of individuals who rely on these resources. By centering client perspectives, the research highlights how hygiene access supports engagement in employment, healthcare, and housing services. The findings aim to inform social work practice by promoting trauma-informed, client-centered approaches and to support policy advocacy that recognizes hygiene access as a basic human need. Ultimately, this research seeks to contribute to more holistic, equitable responses to homelessness that prioritize dignity, health, and human rights.

Field Placement Program Interview
During my field placement, I conducted an in-depth program interview that provided valuable insight into Shower the People of Nashville. This experience challenged me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world practice while engaging directly with organizational leadership. Through the interview with the program’s Director, I demonstrated strong communication skills, empathetic engagement, and the ability to critically assess program structure, service delivery, and community impact. The interview also deepened my understanding of how mobile hygiene services operate within the broader homelessness response system and highlighted the importance of dignity-centered, trauma-informed approaches. A Essay on Social Policies that I am proud of
This eassy on social policy essay examines police use of force and racial disparities in Tennessee through a macro-level social work lens. Using the tragic death of Tyre Nichols as a focal point, the paper explores how systemic racism, punitive criminal justice policies, and economic inequality contribute to disproportionate harm against Black communities. Grounded in Social Work Disposition #12 and the NASW Code of Ethics, the essay emphasizes social workers’ ethical responsibility to advocate for justice-oriented policy reform. It analyzes the social, political, and economic conditions that perpetuate inequitable policing and argues that isolated interventions are insufficient to address these deeply rooted issues. The essay ultimately supports a macro policy practice approach, including standardized use-of-force policies, de-escalation training, transparency, and civilian oversight. By prioritizing systemic change over individual blame, the paper highlights how policy advocacy can promote accountability, rebuild community trust, and advance equity, safety, and dignity for marginalized populations across Tennessee.
